Gatherings

The Gatherings are an opportunity for foster and adoptive parents from all over to comfortably gather in small communities to grow together. Our Fall 2022 Gatherings will meet virtually over four consecutive weeks in October. Each week, we’ll watch a short message together around topics relevant to our families such as trauma, relational parenting, and attunement and discuss how we can bring truth into our lives, relationships, and families in transforming ways.

Registration closed on September 28th.

Q: Are there any in-person options?
A: We are leading a virtual option only. But, we are inviting people who want an in-person format to create a Gathering! Right now, we have local Gatherings Monday evenings in Aurora, Colorado (with space for individuals or couples, childcare provided); Thursday mornings in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania (with space for women only); and Monday evenings in Anne Arundel County, Maryland (a closed group). If you want to be part of one of those groups, let us know; we will have you connect directly with the leader of the group. If you are interested in forming your own in-person group, reach out to learn more. We’d love to have you link up with us. We provide the content and empower the facilitator to lead and care for his or her people.

Q: Is this only for married couples?
A: The Fall Gatherings are open to moms, dads, couples, and singles in any stage of the foster care or adoption journey. If you are wondering if you will fit in, reach out to us before you register by emailing info@sparrowfund.org. We’d love to talk to you.

Q: Is this Christian-faith based? Is it open to people from other backgrounds?
A:
We have intentionally designed the Fall Gatherings to be a comfortable space for anyone who wants community where they can learn and grow regardless of their faith background. At registration, we ask what church you call home. Feel free to put whatever you want in that field including N/A if that’s most appropriate. We ask not to exclude but to help us care for you best.

Q: How many people will be in each group?
A:
We want each group to be small enough that each person feels their mattering but also large enough for dynamic and diverse discussion. We expect each group will have no more than 12 people.

Q: Who are the leaders?
A:
The Gatherings facilitators are fellow learners who desire to grow along with you as they serve and care for you. After registration, we will let you know who your leader is.

Q: Can we make requests to be in a Gathering with friends?
A:
Absolutely. There will be an opportunity at registration for you to tell us if there are specific people you’d like to be placed with.

Q: How much does it cost?
A:
Registration is $25 which has to be paid when you register. If you are a Pennsylvania family receiving SWAN services, talk to your SWAN provider about how your benefits can cover the cost for you.

Have a question we didn’t cover? We want to hear from you. Send us an email at info@sparrowfund.org, and we’ll get right back to you.
